Caribbean Collage - Watercolors

For three months, we traveled through the Caribbean.

Small drawings from my journals along the way...

Ferries and small planes.
Unscheduled schedules and non-existent ticket offices.
Sketchy boats. Jeeps.

From up north in St Thomas.
Down to the southern coast of Grenada.

Traveling between the islands isn't that simple.

We learned to sail!
Explored places I'd barely even heard of.

Each island with its own personality.
 A lot of quirks.

People kinder and more welcoming than I imagined.
(Especially in the southern islands.)

Incredible voyage - that we were fortunate enough to experience.

"Until you step off into the unknown, you don't know what you're made of."

50 Caribbean Islands - Island Hopping Adventure!

In the last 3 months or so, we've wandered south from the Virgin Islands, all the way to Grenada.

Hopping from island to island.

Then - back north again.

We learned to sail.

Lived on 5 different ships.

Stayed in 20 different cottages or guesthouses.

Visited almost 50 islands, some of them several times.
I don’t even know how many countries.

Used 4 different currencies, (I still have unidentified leftover coins from all).

3 different power adaptors.

Drove on the left.
And on the right.

And usually the middle of VERY narrow roads.

Shared roads with all manner of things.

Met such a variety of odd characters-!

Opened new doors.
Found new ideas.

And now - time to return to New Mexico.

We fly an 8-seater WinAir from Saba to St.Maarten.

Then take LIAT St.Maarten to Tortola

Taxi to the ferry dock, then ferry Tortola to St.Thomas.

Amazingly, all connections go smoothly.

Let’s see, that makes 4 countries in one day.
With some - interesting - vehicles and planes.

"At the end of the day, your feet should be dirty, your hair messy, and your eyes sparkling."

Now - time to digest and - as usual:

"Let our souls catch up with us."

That was a heck of an adventure!
